Lovers of cars and animals are invited to the Burlington County Animal Shelter's inaugural car show this weekend. The Motors for Mutts Open House and Car Show is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16, from noon to 4 PM at the shelter located at 75 Academy Drive, Westampton. The event will feature over 30 cars and motorcycles of various styles and ages, alongside music, children's activities, food, and informational tables.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet dogs and cats available for adoption or fostering. Notably, all adoption fees will be waived during the event.
Burlington County Commissioner Deputy Director Dan O’Connell emphasized the importance of such events: “Our shelter staff and volunteers do an outstanding job caring for available pets and connecting them with loving families, but events like this one provide an opportunity for additional people to visit the shelter to hopefully give some overlooked animals a chance.” He added that even those not looking to adopt can assist by sharing photos of adoptable animals with others.
The event is organized by the County in collaboration with Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter. It aims to raise awareness about the shelter’s mission while connecting pets with new families.
Among those available for adoption is Heart, a three-year-old Pit Bull terrier mix who has been at the shelter since January 2023. Another dog looking for a home is Koda, also a Pit Bull terrier mix who arrived as a stray in July. More information about these pets can be found online at https://www.co.burlington.nj.us/1446/Available-for-Adoption.
For those unsure about adopting, fostering offers an alternative way to support these animals. Details on foster programs and volunteer opportunities will be available during the open house.
Burlington County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson highlighted volunteering as another means of support: “Volunteering is a great way to assist the shelter and all the animals that reside there... Every little bit of assistance makes a difference.”
