In an initiative to support Burlington County children during the winter season, Senator Troy Singleton and the Burlington County Commissioners are organizing a giveaway of 600 new winter coats. The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 30th, from 10 am to 12 pm at the Burlington County Emergency Services Building in Westampton.
The distribution of coats will be conducted in collaboration with the non-profit organization Parents Engaging Parents. To receive a coat, children must be present at the event. Due to limited supplies, families are required to pre-register using a provided link.
Senator Singleton expressed gratitude for the community partnerships involved in this effort: “Thanks to our collective efforts and community-based partnerships, hundreds of children will have a new winter coat.” He emphasized the importance of ensuring that children have what they need to succeed and thrive, including warm clothing for school commutes. Singleton encouraged parents to register for a coat promptly.
Burlington County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson highlighted the necessity of warm outerwear due to unpredictable winter weather in New Jersey and acknowledged that purchasing such items can be financially challenging for some families. She stated: “We’re grateful that Senator Singleton and his staff is organizing this coat giveaway. It couldn’t come at a more opportune time and our County is happy to assist.”
Efforts are being made by Senator Singleton alongside local non-profits, communities, and school districts to identify children who may require assistance with obtaining a winter coat.
Community service has been central to Senator Singleton's role in office. He hosts monthly "Serve with Senator Singleton" events where volunteers contribute their time to various projects. Over 60 events have been held so far, accumulating more than 2,500 volunteer hours dedicated to local community service initiatives. His outreach also includes supply drives, back-to-school haircut events, reading challenges, food distributions, among other activities.
