The Burlington County Institute of Technology (BCIT) is expanding its Westampton campus with a 39,000-square-foot project aimed at enhancing career and technical education programs. This development includes auto technology, heavy equipment and logistics, and diesel technology programs.
Burlington County leaders recently toured the construction site. Commissioner Tom Pullion, State Senator Troy Singleton, Assemblywoman Carol Murphy, and Westampton Deputy Mayor Odise Carr were among those present. The tour was led by BCIT/Burlington County Special Services School District Superintendent Dr. Ashanti Holley.
The renovation will introduce expanded classroom spaces, a mock warehouse for logistics training, and a diesel engine garage. These are the first major upgrades to the campus since 2004. Construction started last year and is expected to be completed in time for the fall opening.
Commissioner Pullion emphasized BCIT's reputation: “The Burlington County Institute of Technology is one of the top-performing schools in New Jersey with an incredible record of preparing both students and adults for careers in high-demand fields like engineering, computer programming, automobile repair, logistics and more.” He noted that the expansion will enhance hands-on training opportunities.
The $14 million project is primarily funded through state grants from the Securing Our Children’s Future Bond Act. This legislation allocated around $350 million for county vocational school expansions following a $500 million bond referendum approved by New Jersey voters in 2018.
Senator Singleton remarked on the investment's value: “Providing more opportunities for students to become career-ready at our county vocational schools is a worthy investment." Assemblywoman Murphy echoed this sentiment: “BCIT is providing a path for both adults and high school students to obtain quality education and training for successful careers.”
