Electric vehicle owners in Burlington County now have two new locations to charge their vehicles. The Burlington County Bridge Commission has established two Electric Vehicle Charging Stations at its Palmyra Administrative Building and the Palmyra Cove Nature Park. This initiative aligns with the commission's commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions.

“At the Bridge Commission, we continue to look for ways to help promote sustainable, environmentally friendly practices, and alternatives,” stated Sandra Nunes, Chair of the Burlington County Bridge Commission. “Opening these charging stations helps grow the electric vehicle infrastructure and makes Burlington County a more attractive location for EV vehicle owners.”

The commission installed two dual pedestal Level 3 fast-charging stations at each site: one at the Administrative Building near Tacony-Palmyra Bridge on Route 73 and another at Palmyra Cove Nature Park. Each station is equipped with four charging ports, allowing multiple vehicles to charge simultaneously. Both stations are operational and open to the public.

Funding for these projects came from over $200,000 in grants from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and Public Service Electric & Gas. These funds covered costs related to charging stations, electrical equipment, and infrastructure.

Billing is managed by Blink (https://blinkcharging.com/), with payments accepted via credit card or through the Blink app. Rates are displayed on-site.

“The stations are efficient, convenient and affordable for Burlington County’s EV drivers,” said Nunes. “Adding this eco-friendly infrastructure provides a benefit to EV drivers that use the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge and also those drivers who visit the Palmyra Cove Nature Park.”

Burlington County Commissioner Allison Eckel highlighted this development as part of ongoing efforts toward creating green communities in the county. She remarked on her visit with Nunes that "Electric vehicle sales continue to increase and we applaud the Bridge Commission for taking this action to enhance the infrastructure so that EV drivers can easily travel around our county.” Eckel added that it sends a positive message about environmental responsibility.
