On Wednesday, the Commissioners voted to give preliminary approval for nine farms to enter the Burlington County Farmland Preservation Program. Burlington County announces resurfacing work on Red Lion Road and Eayrestown Road
Work is scheduled to start next week on repaving parts of Red Lion Road and Eayrestown Road in Southampton. Pavement milling and overlay work will begin Monday, June 24, on a 3.7-mile section of Red Lion Road, also known as County Route 641, from Route 616 to Route 70. The resurfacing work will also extend to a 0.2-mile section of Eayrestown Road, also known as County Route 685, from Route 641 to Route 70.

Kitten season is in full bloom, and the Burlington County Animal Shelter is holding a special event to showcase its youngest felines and other pets available for adoption. The Burlington County Kitten and Pet Shower will be held this Sunday, June 23, at the shelter located at 35 Academy Drive, Westampton. From noon to 3:30 PM, visitors will have the opportunity to meet and interact with the shelter’s kittens, dogs, and cats. The event will also feature games, giveaways, and information on pet adoptions, fostering, and volunteer opportunities.

Pavement milling and overlay work will begin Wednesday, June 19, on a 4.4-mile section of the highway, also known as County Route 528, from Holloway Lane in Bordentown Township to Route 664 in Chesterfield. The work is expected to take about three weeks to complete.

The Burlington County Commissioners have approved the distribution of $19,150 in local history grants to three organizations dedicated to preserving and promoting the county’s historical sites. The recipients of these grants are the Bordentown Historical Society, the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of New Jersey based in Westampton, and the Pemberton Township Historic Trust.

Mount Holly-Jacksonville road bridge repairs set to begin June 17
Repairs to the Mount Holly-Jacksonville Road Bridge (D3.16) in Springfield are scheduled to commence on June 17, resulting in a closure expected to last approximately two weeks. The bridge, which spans the Assiscunk Creek, will necessitate the closure of Mount Holly-Jacksonville Road, also known as County Route 628, between Oxmead Road and Jacksonville-Jobstown Road.
