The Burlington County Senior Art Show is set to return this spring at Historic Smithville Park. The County Commissioners are inviting senior artists to participate in the event, scheduled at the Smithville Mansion Annex Gallery from May 16 through September 6.

Artists aged 60 and over, whether professional or non-professional, are eligible to submit their original artwork. The show is organized by the Burlington County Department of Human Services Office on Aging in conjunction with the Burlington County Parks System. Submissions will be accepted during a two-day intake period on May 2 and May 3.

Submitted artworks will be categorized into nine classes and evaluated by a jury. Those judged best in each category will be featured in the New Jersey Senior Art Show, which showcases artwork from across the state.

Burlington County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson emphasized the value of the arts: “The arts are a wonderful creative outlet for residents of all ages and Burlington County is proud to provide this showcase for our talented seniors.” Commissioner Deputy Director Allison Eckel highlighted the show’s significance: “The Senior Art Show is an outstanding exhibit that provides a showcase for both professional and non-professional artists. We want to encourage as many seniors as possible to participate and have their work displayed in beautiful, historic Smithville Mansion.”

Eligible residents can submit one original piece in categories such as acrylic painting, watercolor and gouache, photography, oil painting, pastel and chalk, sculpture, mixed media, print/digital, and craft/works on paper. All artworks must have been completed within the last three years and will be judged in both professional and non-professional categories. There is no submission fee.

Interested artists need to submit a registration form by May 2. Forms can be accessed at the Burlington County official website, either emailed to cfynan@co.burlington.nj.us or mailed to the Burlington County Office on Aging. Deliveries should be made to the Smithville Mansion Annex Gallery on either May 2, from 10 AM to Noon, or May 3, from 1 PM to 4 PM.

For further details, contact the County Office on Aging at 609-265-5784 or via email at cfynan@co.burlington.nj.us.
