Burlington County has announced the allocation of $178,339 in grants to nine organizations dedicated to combating hunger. This initiative is part of the county's ongoing effort to support food pantries and nonprofits that address food insecurity. The latest round of funding brings the total amount awarded by the county's Grants for Food Banks and Food Pantries program to over $467,000, benefiting 15 organizations.

Burlington County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson emphasized the importance of these efforts, stating, "No resident should ever go hungry or have to sacrifice other basic needs to pay for adequate food for themselves or their family." She highlighted the county's commitment to delivering tangible support to local groups serving vulnerable families.

The newly awarded grants include:

- Saint Charles Borromeo Conference in Cinnaminson: $6,000

- Saint Vincent DePaul Sacred Heart Conference in Mount Holly: $25,000

- Church of Saint Isaac Jogues in Marlton: $12,000

- Saint Mary’s Parish Ladle of Love in Burlington: $19,478

- Saint Vincent DePaul Society Our Lady of Good Counsel Conference in Moorestown: $12,686

- Saint Vincent DePaul Society Holy Eucharist Conference Food Distribution Center in Tabernacle: $18,000

- Saint Mary Mother of the Church Parish in Bordentown: $24,000

- Beacon of Hope in Mount Holly: $28,421

- Christian Caring Center in Pemberton Township: $32,754

Hopson noted that these funds will help keep pantry shelves stocked and facilitate access for residents within their communities. "By aiding these organizations," she said, "we’re ensuring that help is available for residents and families where they live and work."

Nonprofit organizations still have opportunities to apply for remaining grant funds capped at $75,000. These can be used for purchasing food or upgrading equipment like stoves and freezers. Interested parties can request applications via email at BurlcoFood@cgph.net or by calling 609-795-2503.

A workshop hosted by the Department of Human Services on November 12 will provide additional guidance on applications. The event takes place from 1 PM to 3 PM at the Burlington County Human Services Building.

In conjunction with financial support efforts, Burlington County has also updated its online directory listing food pantries and hot meal resources across the region. This comprehensive guide is accessible through their official website.

"Fresh nutritious food is essential for good health," Hopson stated. She called attention to ending stigmas around seeking assistance and encouraged those needing help to feel comfortable reaching out.
