Burlington County election officials are reminding voters that they can view and learn about the County’s new voting machines every Saturday at the County Corner Store in Moorestown Mall. With the 2024 General Election less than 70 days away, staff from the Burlington County Superintendent of Elections and Burlington County Clerk’s Office will be available each Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM to assist with voter registration and other election-related matters.

The new voting equipment, which will be used during early voting and on Nov. 5 Election Day, is on display for voters to inspect. Staff at the site will also provide tutorials on how to use the new machines.

“Voting is a fundamental right and we’re proud to partner with the Burlington County Clerk to make sure voters have all the information they need to exercise that right however they choose to,” said Superintendent of Elections Dawn Marie Addiego. “Whether you’re a citizen registering for the first time, have a question about vote-by-mail or interested in a tutorial on the new machines and how they work, our staff will be at the County Corner Store to assist and answer your questions.”

The new voting machines consist of electronic ballot marking devices and tabulators, similar to those used during early voting since 2021. This year’s June primary was the first time this equipment was deployed at all polling locations. The upcoming Nov. 5 election marks their first use on Election Day during a General Election.

“The new machines are highly secure, easy to use and produce a voter verifiable paper record of every ballot, so there’s an additional level of security that was absent from our old fleet,” Addiego said. “Thousands of Burlington County voters successfully used this new technology during past early voting periods or during this year’s Primary Election. But for voters who haven’t used them yet, we want to give them opportunities to become familiar with the new machines before Election Day.”

In addition to in-person lessons available on Saturdays, Burlington County has released a computer animation video explaining how to vote using the new machines. The video is accessible on the Burlington County Election Services Page: https://www.co.burlington.nj.us/593/Election-Voter-Services

The deadline for voter registration for the upcoming General Election is Tuesday, Oct. 15. Eligible voters must be U.S. citizens aged at least 17 years (though they may not vote until turning 18) and residents of Burlington County for at least 30 days before an election.

Voters can register at various locations including online or at designated sites like the Superintendent of Elections Office at 301 Harper Drive, Moorestown or at the mall location on Saturdays when staff are present. Paper forms are also available online and can be mailed.
