Temperatures are rising, flowers are blooming, and spring is in the air as the Burlington County Farmers Market gears up for its 18th season at the Burlington County Agricultural Center. The market's Opening Day, dedicated to spring gardens, is scheduled for Saturday, May 11, from 8:30 AM to 1 PM.

Burlington County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson expressed excitement about the upcoming season, stating, "Our farmers market season got off to an early start this year with four pre-season markets in March and April. Those early markets were a big hit and generated even more excitement for the kickoff of our weekly Saturday markets."

With over 60 vendors offering Jersey-fresh produce, seasonal plants, flowers, prepared foods, crafts, and specialty items, the Opening Day Market promises a vibrant shopping experience. Additionally, attendees can look forward to gardening demonstrations, a free cooking class, activities for all ages, presentations, and live music.

Burlington County Commissioner Allison Eckel emphasized the diverse offerings at the market, saying, “Expert and novice gardeners, cooks, beer enthusiasts, cheese connoisseurs and coffee-lovers, no matter your interest or taste, you’re certain to find something you’ll love to eat, drink, or plant at the Burlington County Farmers Market."

Among the participants at the market's Opening Day are nearly four dozen farms and food vendors, as well as 15 artists and crafters. Newcomer Fernbrook Farms will showcase community-supported agriculture and wholesale nursery products, while returning favorites like Bart’s Flowers, Black Sheep Farm, and Harvest Coffee will offer their sought-after goods.

The event will not only cater to shoppers but also provide educational opportunities. Cooking demonstrations, hands-on activities like planting succulents and pressing flowers, and presentations on topics such as fig tree care and composting will enrich visitors' experiences.

Located at the Burlington County Agricultural Center, the Farmers Market is a centerpiece of the 68-acre former dairy farm, now dedicated to food production, health, nutrition, and land stewardship. Commissioner Eckel highlighted the market's role in supporting local farms and educating residents about the significance of agriculture in the county's heritage and future.

As the spring season unfolds, the Burlington County Farmers Market stands ready to welcome visitors seeking fresh produce, artisanal goods, and a vibrant community atmosphere.
