Burlington County is gearing up to host its 3rd Annual Bring Health Home Resource Fair on April 26, 2024. The event aims to provide residents with valuable information on health improvement and housing security.
The fair, set to take place at the Burlington County Human Services Building in Westampton, will offer a wide array of activities and resources. County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson highlighted the importance of the event, stating, “Good health starts at home and Burlington County prioritizes programs and resources that help all residents live healthy lives, including those related to sufficient, stable housing.”
Attendees can look forward to free health screenings, fitness classes, mindfulness activities, COVID-19 vaccine clinics, lead screenings, and testing of household items. In addition, information will be available on rental and mortgage assistance, first-time homebuyer programs, emergency home repair, utility assistance, and more.
A notable feature of the fair will be Virtua’s Mobile Health and Cancer Screening vehicle, offering free mammograms and cervical cancer screenings to uninsured women. Prevention Plus of Burlington County will lead wellness exercises, while the Food Bank of South Jersey will provide free boxed meals and produce.
Moreover, the event will witness the unveiling of the Hope One for Youth, a new mobile van specializing in education, mental health, and substance use prevention. Commissioner Director Hopson expressed excitement about the launch, emphasizing the unit's focus on educating children and teens on mental health and substance use prevention.
The fair will also see the participation of over three dozen agencies and providers, including Virtua Health, Cooper Health, Jefferson Health, and various government departments. U.S. Senator Cory Booker, Congressman Andy Kim, and State Senator Troy Singleton will have staff present to assist with constituent services and outreach.
Senator Singleton emphasized the importance of events like the resource fair, stating, “Building healthy communities takes all levels of government working in partnership and my office is pleased to partner in this event, which gives residents opportunities to learn more about their health and resources that can assist them and their families.”
