Burlington County is gearing up to start resurfacing work on 14 roads spanning almost 37 miles in 15 towns as part of the County's State Funded Overlay Plan. The $12.7 million contract for the project has been awarded to Black Rock Enterprises of Old Bridge, Monmouth County, with funding primarily coming from the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson expressed the county's commitment to maintaining its infrastructure, stating, “Burlington County is the largest county in New Jersey and has over 500 miles of County roads, 411 County bridges and 700 culverts. Maintaining this infrastructure is one of the most important services our government performs. The new repaving program will ensure Burlington County continues to have safe, quality roads and we are pleased to learn that work will be commencing soon.”

The first road to undergo the resurfacing work is a 3.7-mile section of Mount Misery/Junction Road in Pemberton Township, with work expected to take about three weeks to complete. While traffic will be maintained during the project, motorists may experience some delays.

In addition to the upcoming repaving initiative, Burlington County is also finalizing resurfacing projects from its previous State Funded Overlay Program, which covered over 34 miles of roads in 13 municipalities. The county is further working on repaving 8.6 miles of roads in six towns using its own funding.

Residents are encouraged to report potholes on County roads to the Burlington County Pothole Hotline or by email. The County website also offers a form for reporting potholes.

The new State Funded Overlay Program will cover sections of various roads in different municipalities, ensuring improved road conditions for residents and commuters in Burlington County.
