Burlington County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson and Commissioner Allison Eckel have announced that nominations for the 2024 Outstanding Women of Burlington County Awards are now open. The awards aim to honor women who have made significant contributions in various fields and have shown support for women in the community.

Hopson, who is a liaison to the Women’s Advisory Council, expressed the council's excitement to continue acknowledging women for their leadership and service, stating, “From Alice Paul and Elizabeth White to Charity Still and Clara Barton, Burlington County has been blessed with great women leaders and achievers.”

Eckel, also a liaison to the council, highlighted the importance of celebrating women's achievements, saying, “Women in our county have excelled in every field and we’ve made it our mission to celebrate them and their achievements.”

The awards, sponsored by the Women’s Advisory Council and the Burlington County Board of Commissioners, will feature a new category recognizing excellence in humanities. The council is looking for nominees who have acted as mentors, role models, or advocates for other women.

In addition to the humanities category, women will be honored in various other categories such as community service and volunteerism, diversity/inclusion, military or veterans service, education/mentorship, first responder/law enforcement, government, health care, and law.

Nomination criteria and forms can be found online, and questions can be directed to womenscouncil@co.burlington.nj.us. The deadline for submissions is Friday, June 28. Winners will be celebrated at the annual Outstanding Women Awards Banquet in September.

The Burlington County Women’s Advisory Council aims to address issues affecting women in the county, raise awareness about these issues, and enhance the quality of life for all women.
