The Burlington County Commissioners continue to help new and existing small businesses grow and succeed.

On Thursday, the Commissioners teamed with the Burlington County Bridge Commission’s Department of Economic Development and Regional Planning to hold the first in a series of small business workshops for local business owners and entrepreneurs.

The free class was held at the Burlington County Library in Westampton and was devoted to business financing. It featured Alejandro Cruz of UCEDC, a nonprofit economic development corporation, and Rob Wells, Burlington County’s director of Economic Development and Regional Planning.

More than a dozen business owners and entrepreneurs attended and learned about the available loans for businesses from Burlington County and the U.S. Small Business Administration, among other sources. Tips for avoiding scams and unregulated lenders were also discussed, along with the initial steps and actions new businesses should take.

It was a great class to start the new series and there's plenty more information to share. The next workshop will be held April 20 from 10:30 AM to noon at the Burlington County Library and will go into more details about developing business plans, including marketing, sales and planning strategies.

For more information or to register, contact the Department of Economic Development and Regional Planning at edcoorinator@bcbridges.org or call 609-265-5055.
