Burlington County continues to offer help and support to those who have lost loved ones to substance abuse disorder and to those who are struggling to beat the disease.
To commemorate International Black Balloon Day – a day held to honor lives lost to substance abuse and raise awareness about recovery programs -- the Burlington County Department of Human Services teamed with Prevention is Key and the Burlington County Hope One mobile outreach team to offer free training on the safe administration of the overdose antidote Narcan.
Free supplies of Narcan were also distributed and individuals and families were introduced to services offered by the Burlington County Recovery Centers.
The centers are located in the Burlington County Human Services Building in Westampton and at the Burlington City municipal building. Both locations offer critical support for residents recovering from substance abuse disorders.
The County is also making a major push to ensure that first responders, peer recovery coaches, school nurses and other school employees are equipped with Narcan kits and are properly trained on how to use them.
