The Burlington County Commissioners kicked off their new Downtown Business Tours today with a trip to the historic City of Bordentown.

During the tour, Commissioner  Felicia Hopson and other state, county and local officials visited several downtown businesses and met with their owners and local business leaders to learn more about the history of the businesses and their importance to the local community.

“Small businesses are the foundation of our county and we want to showcase our downtown destinations and many of the wonderful restaurants, stores and other establishments that operate within them,” said Hopson, the Board’s liaison to the Department of Economic Development and Regional Planning. “By promoting these special places, we hope more residents will choose to shop and dine there. Doing so supports our neighbors and helps keep our economy strong and our communities vibrant. So please join me in visiting beautiful Bordentown City and check out the many wonderful things this downtown has to offer.”

Joining Commissioner Hopson on this first tour were Senator Troy Singleton, Assemblyman Herb Conaway, MD, Bordentown City Mayor Jen Sciorintino, Burlington County Administrator Eve Cullinan, Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Kristi Howell and Downtown Borden town Association NJ Vice President Vincent Schino.

Among the businesses the group visited were:

Crumb, the new coffee, breakfast and sandwich spot at the corner of Crosswicks St. and Farnsworth Ave.;

Mimosa Goods, a gift shop specializing in eco-friendly, handmade goods;

Artful Deposit, a gallery that’s been a staple of the city’s downtown for decades;

Gail Force Winds, a gift shop specializing in items created by artists with special needs;

Toscano Ristorante and Steak House, one of the region’s most popular dining spots;

The Candy Jar by 1892, a chocolate shop with every assortment of sweets imaginable!

It was a great day to shop, dine and explore this beautiful Burlington County destination.

Keep a lookout for spotlights about all the wonderful businesses that are located in Bordentown City’s downtown and plan to visit there soon!
