The Outstanding Women of Burlington County Awards Reception is just over a week away! Today, we are lifting up Jennifer Appelmann, this years Law Enforcement honoree! Appelmann has cemented a reputation as a fearless and compassionate advocate for victims of child exploitation.
A tenacious law enforcement officer, Appelmann is an accomplished detective with the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office – High Tech Crimes Unit. She specializes in investigations involving the exploitation and victimization of children.
Applemann served as a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in 2021 and was the lead investigator in 15 of the Task Force’s more than 40 child exploitation cases. Detective Appelmann has assisted with many digital forensic examinations for both the Prosecutor’s Office and other law enforcement agencies, involving homicides, aggravated assaults, vehicular homicides, shootings, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses, and strict liability deaths.
Prior to joining the Prosecutor’s Office in 2017, Appelmann spent 11 years as an investigator with the New Jersey State Police. She served with the State Police’s Digital Technology Investigations Unit from September 2014 to October 2017, where she was responsible for reviewing all cybertips received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and disseminated them to the affiliate agencies throughout New Jersey.
Appelmann is a past winner of the New Jersey Women in Law Enforcement Investigative Excellence Award, and she also serves as a field training officer for her unit and as an instructor at seminars educating Burlington County youth, families, schools, and youth organizations about internet and social media safety.
