Virtua Health has been recognized nationally as a top employer, earning places on three significant “best workplaces” lists. The organization was acknowledged in two Newsweek lists and one by Modern Healthcare. These recognitions underscore Virtua’s commitment to creating a purpose-driven, inclusive, and supportive environment for its workforce of over 15,000.

As southern New Jersey’s largest not-for-profit health system, Virtua operates five hospitals along with more than 400 other care locations. For the first time, it appears on Newsweek’s 2025 list of America’s Greatest Workplaces and the inaugural list of America’s Greatest Workplaces in Health Care. These rankings were developed in collaboration with Plant-A Insights Group using survey data from over 250,000 U.S. workers across 78 sectors. The evaluation considered factors like company culture, compensation and benefits, work-life balance, and career growth.

In addition to the Newsweek accolades, Virtua is also featured on Modern Healthcare’s 2025 list of Best Places to Work in Healthcare. It stands as the only health system from New Jersey on this year’s list. This recognition is based largely on confidential employee surveys conducted by Workforce Research Group focusing on employee well-being, engagement, and workplace culture.

“We are proud to cultivate an environment where people feel genuinely valued, supported, and connected to a purpose greater than themselves,” said Rhonda Jordan, SHRM-SCP, executive vice president and chief human resources officer for Virtua Health. “These honors affirm that our people feel inspired to do their best work for each other and our community.”

“This recognition from Newsweek and Modern Healthcare reflects the passion, skill, and dedication of our colleagues,” stated Dennis W. Pullin, FACHE, president and CEO of Virtua Health. “It also speaks to our collective promise to be Here for Good for our team and for the communities we serve.”

Earlier this year saw Newsweek name Virtua among the Best Places to Work for Women. In August 2024 Forbes listed Virtua Health among New Jersey’s best employers for the sixth consecutive year.
