Virtua Health has completed renovations to the Mother-Baby Unit at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden. This project is part of a larger effort to improve patient experiences at the hospital, which is marking its 75th anniversary.

Virtua Health operates three hospitals that offer maternity services: Virtua Mount Holly, Virtua Voorhees, and Virtua-Lourdes. All three were recently named High-Performing Hospitals for Maternity Care on U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care list. These improvements are part of an ongoing transformation across Virtua’s maternity campuses, including further updates at Virtua Mount Holly Hospital.

The updated Mother-Baby Unit includes new features intended to support parents during childbirth and recovery. According to the medical staff, these changes have energized the team at Virtua-Lourdes, which delivered over 600 of the approximately 9,000 babies born at all Virtua hospitals in 2025.

“Every detail of this renovation was guided by the needs of our patients and the people who care for them,” said Chidinma Arole, MD, MPH, FACOG, lead physician for the unit. “We want families to feel supported, safe, and comforted from the moment they arrive.”

Virtua Health plans additional enhancements across its Camden campus in coming months as part of its investment in health care delivery in South Jersey.
