Senator Troy Singleton and the Burlington County Commissioners will distribute 600 new winter coats to local children on December 6, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Burlington County Emergency Services Building in Westampton. The initiative is being carried out in partnership with the non-profit group Parents Engaging Parents.

Children must be present to receive a coat, and families are required to pre-register online due to limited supplies. Registration can be completed at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSePKhnzDSKOcGC02SjJJCfFHzbnRwk5iK5TaFsi5D3Ki9tTzA/viewform.

Senator Singleton commented, “Thanks to our collective efforts and community-based partnerships, hundreds of children will have a new winter coat. It is vitally important that we do all that we can to ensure that children in Burlington County have the tools they need to succeed and thrive, and that includes having a coat that will keep them warm on their way to school. I want to thank all of our amazing partners for sharing and valuing this commitment and I encourage parents to sign up today for a new coat.”

Commissioner Felicia Hopson stated, “We all know how unpredictable winter weather can be in New Jersey and the Northeast, making a warm winter coat an absolute necessity for all our residents. We also know that purchasing adequate winter outerwear can be a financial hardship for some families, so we’re grateful that Senator Singleton and his staff are organizing this coat giveaway. It couldn’t come at a more opportune time and our County is happy to assist.”

Local non-profits and school districts worked with Senator Singleton’s office to help identify children who may need assistance obtaining proper outerwear.

Community service has been central during Senator Singleton’s tenure; he hosts monthly “Serve with Senator Singleton” events where volunteers participate in various projects throughout Burlington County. These initiatives have resulted in over 3,000 volunteer hours contributed across nearly 80 events focused on local service projects. Additional outreach by the senator includes supply drives, annual back-to-school haircut events, reading challenges, food distributions, among others.
