Senator Andy Kim, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 3rd district since 2019, posted a series of tweets reflecting on the anniversary of the January 6th Capitol attack and criticizing former President Donald Trump’s foreign policy.
On January 6, 2026, Kim addressed his concerns regarding Trump’s approach to international relations, writing, “Extortion foreign policy is the name of the game for Trump and he doesn’t care what it costs you.” (posted at 02:23 UTC).
Later that morning, Kim called for reflection among lawmakers and staff on the events that took place at the U.S. Capitol five years prior. He stated, “Tomorrow, we should reflect on the attack at our Capitol, especially those of us who work in its chambers. It’s about respect. For our Constitution, our country, and the people who kept us safe.” (posted at 04:01 UTC).
In another post later that day, Kim expressed gratitude to law enforcement officers involved in protecting Congress during the insurrection. He wrote, “5 years after the January 6th insurrection, we reflect on what was at stake then and what’s at stake now. Thank you to the brave Capitol police officers who saved lives that day. We must continue to be caretakers to our nation and our democracy.” (posted at 13:27 UTC).
Kim has represented New Jersey’s 3rd District since defeating Tom MacArthur in 2019. Born in Boston in 1982 and currently residing in Moorestown, Kim holds degrees from Deep Springs College (2002) and the University of Chicago (BA, 2004).
