Senator Andy Kim, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 3rd district, has raised several questions regarding national security and foreign policy through a series of tweets. These posts, made on June 22, 2025, address concerns about American safety and the outcomes of recent military actions.
In his first tweet, Senator Kim questioned whether the American public would be adequately protected against potential threats from Iran. He asked if “the Department of Homeland Security [will] take additional measures to ensure that our communities are safe from Iranian terror and cyber attacks that could threaten the homeland?” Additionally, he inquired about precautions for Americans traveling abroad.
The second tweet by Senator Kim focused on evaluating the success of recent military strikes targeting nuclear facilities in Iran. He posed questions such as “Were the strikes successful in achieving their objectives in taking out the three targeted nuclear facilities?” and sought clarity on when there might be a meaningful assessment of these actions’ effectiveness.
In his third tweet, Senator Kim addressed concerns about managing potential escalation following these strikes. He questioned “What is Trump’s plan if/when Iran retaliates?” and how this situation would be prevented from evolving into a broader conflict. He also highlighted the need to align objectives with those of Prime Minister Netanyahu while maintaining focus on U.S. goals.
Andy Kim has been serving in Congress since replacing Tom MacArthur in 2019. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he resides in Moorestown and holds degrees from both Deep Springs College and the University of Chicago.
