Senator Andy Kim, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 3rd district since 2019, recently expressed concerns on social media regarding the actions taken by former President Trump. Kim’s tweets reflect his experience working in the Situation Room and warzones, raising questions about military decisions and their implications.
On June 22, 2025, Senator Kim tweeted: “Tonight, many Americans rightfully are fearful about the possibility of escalation. Trump took this decision without consulting Congress or fully explaining to the American people. I worked in the Situation Room and warzones, and here are the questions we need answered.” This tweet highlights his apprehension about potential conflicts following Trump’s unilateral decision-making.
In a subsequent tweet posted on the same day, Kim raised specific concerns about military personnel: “WILL US FORCES BE PROTECTED? There are around 40k American servicemembers in the Middle East right now. What is the administration doing to ensure the protection of our personnel and facilities? What will be the scope of Iranian retaliation?” This reflects his focus on ensuring safety for U.S. forces abroad.
Further expanding on these issues, he questioned potential threats from Iran: “How much of that will come through traditional military attacks against our personnel and facilities in the region, and how much will be through proxy or covert actions, perhaps over a longer timeframe?” These inquiries suggest concerns over both immediate and long-term security risks.
Andy Kim was born in Boston in 1982 and currently resides in Moorestown. He holds degrees from Deep Springs College (2002) and University of Chicago (2004).
