Senator Andy Kim, representing New Jersey’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, recently shared his views on various political issues through a series of tweets. Born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1982 and currently residing in Moorestown, Kim has been vocal about international diplomacy, economic policies, and public service initiatives.
On May 15, 2025, Senator Kim expressed concerns over the United States’ role on the global stage. He stated that “Walking away from the largest convening of global leaders represents weakness and retreat; it’s simply not something America does.” Emphasizing the importance of engaging with major economies to ensure prosperity and security for Americans in the 21st century.
Later that day, he addressed domestic economic policies by criticizing former President Trump’s tariffs. In his tweet at 14:02 UTC, he noted that “Trump’s tariffs are working for him and millionaires but they will leave working families with the bill.” He urged Republicans in Congress to collaborate with Democrats to eliminate what he termed as a “tariff tax” burdening American consumers.
Further emphasizing public service, Senator Kim highlighted efforts to reinstate a program aimed at attracting talent into government roles. At 16:19 UTC on May 15th, he tweeted about introducing legislation alongside Senator Jeff Merkley to revive the Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) program. According to Kim, “For decades the PMF program attracted top talent into government to serve our nation… Trump shut it down.” The initiative aims to restore this pathway for good governance.
As an alumnus of both Deep Springs College and the University of Chicago where he completed his BA in 2004, Andy Kim continues his legislative work from Moorestown.
