Senator Andy Kim, currently serving as a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 3rd district since 2019, recently shared updates on his official Twitter account about meetings with students and diplomatic discussions in Washington, D.C.
On July 18, 2025, Kim posted about engaging with interns from his alma mater: “I had the opportunity to meet with students from my alma mater, @UChicago, who are interning in DC this summer. It was great to connect with smart, insightful young leaders and to hear what’s been on their minds.” Kim graduated from the University of Chicago in 2004 with a BA.
Later that day, he highlighted a meeting focused on international relations: “Our friendship with Japan is one that I value deeply. I had the pleasure of meeting with Ambassador Shigeo Yamada to discuss the U.S.-Japan relationship and opportunities to maintain and expand our alliance to support peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific, as well as to pursue” The post reflects ongoing efforts by members of Congress to strengthen ties between the United States and Japan.
On July 19, Kim addressed disaster preparedness at the federal level: “This week, I urged Sec. Kristi Noem to ensure FEMA is fulfilling its mission on behalf of the American people. We’ve seen how harmful a lack of response can be, and we must be prepared to assist communities in times of crisis and prepare them to respond, whether it be to”
Kim has served in Congress since defeating Tom MacArthur in 2019. Born in Boston in 1982 and currently residing in Moorestown, he continues to emphasize community engagement both locally and internationally.
