Senator Andy Kim, representing New Jersey’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, has recently shared his views on various topics through a series of tweets. Kim, who was born in Boston and currently resides in Moorestown, graduated from the University of Chicago and Deep Springs College.
On May 20, 2025, Senator Kim expressed his pleasure at participating in the APAICS Legislative Leadership Summit alongside Senator Tammy Duckworth. He emphasized the importance of such discussions during Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month by stating: “It was wonderful to participate in the @APAICS Legislative Leadership Summit with @SenDuckworth. As we celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, conversations like these are vital.”
In another tweet dated May 21, 2025, Kim addressed concerns regarding potential cuts to the Nonprofit Security Grant Program under the Trump Administration. He recounted an exchange with DHS Secretary Kristi Noem where he asked about possible reductions to this program. Kim conveyed his dissatisfaction with her response: “When I asked DHS Secretary @Sec_Noem if the Nonprofit Security Grant Program could be potentially cut by the Trump Administration, she couldn’t give me a clear ‘NO.’ To me, that’s unacceptable.” The senator highlighted its significance as a tool against antisemitism.
Later on May 21st, Senator Kim commented on recent activities within the Oval Office by criticizing its use for purposes other than serious diplomatic engagements: “This is an embarrassment. The Oval Office is not a stage for performance art or conspiracy theories; it’s a space for serious conversations between world leaders working to shape a better world.”
