Senator Andy Kim, who has represented New Jersey’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, posted a series of tweets expressing strong criticism of recent actions taken by the Trump administration and Republican lawmakers.
On January 25, 2026, Senator Kim commented on a statement released by a grieving family: “This family statement is absolutely devastating to read. First, it should never have had to be written. The ease with which Trump’s admin takes someone’s life, and in this case a citizen, is disgusting and wrong. Second, the fact that Alex’s family, while mourning, had to”.
The following day, Kim called for unified action against proposed legislation: “We are united in outrage. This needs to be a point where we say ENOUGH and refuse to vote on this DHS funding bill as it currently stands.” (January 26, 2026).
Later that same day he added: “Don’t forget: When Republicans passed their Big Disastrous Bill, they took money out of your wallet and your healthcare to fund this lawlessness and the killing of American citizens.”
Senator Kim was born in Boston in 1982 and currently resides in Moorestown. He graduated from Deep Springs College in 2002 before earning his BA from the University of Chicago in 2004. Before his tenure began in Congress after defeating Tom MacArthur in 2019, Kim established himself as an active voice within his district.
The tweets highlight Senator Kim’s ongoing criticism of both executive decisions under former President Donald Trump and legislative actions by Republican members of Congress related to Department of Homeland Security funding bills.
