Senator Andy Kim, representing New Jersey’s 3rd District since 2019, has been vocal on social media regarding recent legislative developments and natural disasters. His recent tweets express concern over policies impacting Medicaid and tax distributions, as well as the need for disaster relief in Texas.
On July 5, 2025, Senator Kim expressed his dissatisfaction with the recent passage of a bill supported by former President Trump and Congressional Republicans. He stated, “The passage of Trump’s Big Disastrous Bill is a nightmare come true for millions of Americans that rely Medicaid, including people with disabilities.” He criticized the decision-making process even in states like New Jersey where Democrats have traditionally supported those in need.
Later that same day, he addressed issues surrounding wealth distribution. At 22:11 UTC, he tweeted, “I don’t know anyone who thinks that the cause of our problems is the richest among us not having MORE money.” He criticized Republican actions to increase financial benefits for millionaires and billionaires at the expense of others.
On July 6, 2025, Senator Kim turned his attention to natural disasters affecting Texas. In response to recent floods causing significant damage and loss of life in the region, he called for immediate action from federal authorities. He wrote at midnight UTC, “It’s devastating to hear of the damage caused by the Texas floods and the lives that have been lost.” He urged both Congress and the Trump Administration to be proactive in providing necessary disaster relief efforts.
Senator Andy Kim was born in Boston in 1982 and resides in Moorestown. An alumnus of Deep Springs College and University of Chicago, he continues to serve actively in Congress following his election victory over Tom MacArthur.
