Senator Andy Kim, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 3rd district since 2019, used his social media account on March 11, 2026, to voice concerns over potential American military involvement in Iran and criticize the Trump Administration’s approach to war planning and transparency.
In a post published at 01:09 UTC, Kim wrote: “We shouldn’t put American troops on the ground in Iran. I’ve seen no real plan to keep them safe.
I’ve worked in Iraq and Afghanistan and I know how dangerous this would be.”
Later that morning at 11:26 UTC, he posted another message alleging a lack of transparency from the Trump Administration regarding classified briefings: “I’m going to let you in on a little secret: the Trump Administration is using classified briefings as an excuse to hide the truth from you.
They don’t have a plan for this war.
They don’t have a plan to lower your costs.
They just don’t want to admit it publicly.”
Kim continued his criticism at 13:30 UTC by stating: “Trump doesn’t want you to understand the costs of war.”
Kim’s remarks draw upon his experience working in Iraq and Afghanistan prior to his tenure in Congress. Born in Boston in 1982 and currently residing in Moorestown, Kim has academic credentials from Deep Springs College (2002) and the University of Chicago (2004). He succeeded Tom MacArthur as representative for New Jersey’s 3rd district beginning in 2019.
