Senator Andy Kim, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 3rd district since 2019, used his social media platform on February 12, 2026 to voice concerns about recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in American cities.
In a tweet posted at 18:06 UTC, Senator Kim wrote, “Acting Director of ICE Todd Lyons won’t commit to ending these harmful surge tactics that put thousands of federal agents on the streets of our cities.”
Later that day, at 19:31 UTC, he followed up with another post stating simply, “We are going backwards.”
At 20:22 UTC on the same day, Senator Kim added his third message: “We don’t want our cities occupied by ICE.”
These comments reflect ongoing debates in Congress regarding immigration enforcement and the role of federal agencies in local communities. The use of “surge tactics” by ICE has been a contentious issue among lawmakers and advocates.
Senator Andy Kim succeeded Tom MacArthur as representative for New Jersey’s 3rd district in 2019. Born in Boston in 1982 and currently residing in Moorestown, Kim holds degrees from Deep Springs College (2002) and the University of Chicago (2004).
