Senator Andy Kim, currently representing New Jersey’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, used his Twitter account on June 2, 2026, to address concerns about immigration detention and the role of private companies such as GEO Group.
In a post dated June 2, 2026, Kim wrote: “If you don’t like what you’re seeing at Delaney Hall, pay attention to what’s happening in Congress this week. We must stop giving ICE and for-profit companies like GEO Group a blank check to create chaos.” On the same day, he accused the previous presidential administration of misrepresenting events at an immigration facility, stating, “The Trump administration is lying about Delaney Hall. Here’s what’s actually going on.” Later that morning, Kim further criticized the GEO Group’s involvement in immigration detention: “You may not know the name GEO Group, but you’ll never forget it once you learn how they’re profiting off of cruelty and corruption in our broken immigration system.”
Delaney Hall is an immigrant detention facility whose management has come under scrutiny from both lawmakers and advocacy groups. The GEO Group is a private company contracted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to operate several such facilities across the country.
Kim has represented New Jersey’s 3rd District since replacing Tom MacArthur in 2019. He was born in Boston in 1982 and now lives in Moorestown. Kim holds degrees from Deep Springs College (2002) and the University of Chicago (2004).
