Senator Andy Kim, representing New Jersey’s 3rd district since 2019, recently addressed concerns regarding policy decisions affecting his constituents through a series of tweets. Born in Boston and now residing in Moorestown, Kim has been an active voice in Congress since replacing Tom MacArthur.
On July 6, 2025, Senator Kim criticized Jeff Van Drew for reportedly removing “363,330 New Jerseyans off their health insurance” to benefit three wealthy individuals with a tax cut. He also mentioned Chris Smith’s actions that allegedly impacted food assistance for “360,000 kids in NJ,” attributing these measures to prioritize the interests of the affluent (“Jeff Van Drew just kicked up to 363,330 New Jerseyans off their health insurance…”).
Later that day, Senator Kim commented on the responsibilities of congressional members. He emphasized that they are elected “to serve the people who live in our states” and must exhibit courage even when it opposes powerful interests. Kim expressed concern over what he perceives as Republicans prioritizing power over service (“As members of Congress, we are elected to serve the people who live in our states…”).
On July 7, 2025, Kim highlighted issues concerning after-school programs. He urged parents to pay attention to how taxpayer money intended for these programs is being utilized. Criticizing former President Trump’s policies aimed at benefiting billionaires with tax cuts, he stressed the importance of ensuring children receive adequate after-school care (“If you’re a parent with kids in after school programs…”).
Andy Kim’s education includes a BA from the University of Chicago and Deep Springs College.
