Senator Andy Kim, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 3rd district since 2019, posted a series of statements on January 8, 2026, addressing issues related to government transparency, oversight of federal agencies, and trust in public institutions.
In his first post at 00:55 UTC, Kim called for more transparency regarding U.S. policy toward Venezuela. He stated, “You deserve to know what the plan, or lack thereof, is in Venezuela. It’s time for the Trump administration to stop hiding behind classified briefings and answer your questions directly.”
Later that day at 02:51 UTC, Kim criticized Congressional Republicans over their approach to oversight of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), writing “Congressional Republicans are preventing the oversight of ICE actions across the country. We must stop the recklessness that put lives at-risk.”
At 02:56 UTC on January 8th, Kim highlighted efforts to build public trust in New Jersey’s government by referencing the work of his state director on a new commission: “You deserve a government you can trust. I’m proud that our state director @suealtman was able to serve on NJ’s new TRUST Commission and be a part of their first report to build a government in New Jersey that you can trust.”
Andy Kim has been an active figure in national politics since replacing Tom MacArthur as representative for New Jersey’s 3rd district in 2019. Born in Boston in 1982 and now residing in Moorestown, Kim holds degrees from Deep Springs College (2002) and the University of Chicago (BA, 2004).
