Senator Andy Kim, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 3rd district since 2019, has called for increased transparency and accountability regarding the ongoing war. In a series of posts on March 8 and 9, 2026, Kim addressed both the Trump Administration’s handling of the conflict and the situation facing Americans abroad.
On March 8, Kim urged for public scrutiny over the administration’s decisions: “We need public hearings on this war. The Trump Administration can’t keep hiding behind classified briefings. It’s time for them to answer questions in front of the American people.”
Later that day, he directly attributed responsibility for recent developments to both former President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans: “Trump chose this. Republicans in Congress let it happen.”
Addressing concerns about Americans overseas during this period of uncertainty, Kim posted on March 9: “To any Americans stuck abroad right now, I want you to know that I will keep fighting until every one of you is safely back home. Please use my office as a resource for travel assistance and updated advisories. I know this is a scary, uncertain situation. I will keep you”
Kim’s statements come amid heightened tensions and calls from lawmakers for greater oversight of executive actions related to military engagement.
Andy Kim succeeded Tom MacArthur in Congress in 2019 and has been active in addressing foreign policy issues (source). Born in Boston in 1982 and currently residing in Moorestown, Kim graduated from Deep Springs College in 2002 and earned his BA from the University of Chicago in 2004.
