Senator Andy Kim, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 3rd district, posted a series of messages on April 19, 2026, addressing recent violence, healthcare policy, and democratic reforms.
In his first post at 18:01 UTC, Kim responded to tragic news by stating, “Seeing this news is absolutely heartbreaking. No parent or family should have to experience this kind of loss, and no child should fear or face this kind of violence. As a father, this is gut-wrenching.”
Later that evening at 20:05 UTC, Kim criticized former President Donald Trump’s approach to health policy and medical research funding. He wrote, “Trump is actively making us less healthy, and setting us back when it comes to medical research and innovation. I don’t know anyone who thinks investing less in finding a cure for cancer is a good thing.”
At 21:11 UTC the same day, Kim emphasized the importance of public involvement in democracy and called for systemic reforms. He said, “The core unit of our democracy is you, the people. We must make serious reforms to keep our democracy focused on you, not corporations and billionaires.”
Kim has represented New Jersey’s 3rd District since 2019 after replacing Tom MacArthur. Born in Boston in 1982 and now residing in Moorestown, he holds degrees from Deep Springs College (2002) and the University of Chicago (2004).
