Senator Andy Kim, who represents New Jersey’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on August 27, 2025, addressing issues ranging from tariffs and taxes to health care funding and gun violence.

In a tweet posted at 00:17 UTC, Kim criticized recent increases in taxes on school supplies in New Jersey. He stated, “Taxes on back to school items in NJ have tripled because of Trump’s reckless tariffs. It’s unacceptable that high costs imposed by this administration – in order to fund tax cuts for the richest among us – will force NJ families to choose between school supplies that help our” (August 27, 2025).

Later that day, at 14:05 UTC, Kim addressed proposed Republican changes to Medicaid funding and their impact on local health centers. He wrote, “This Health Care Day of Action, I’m highlighting how Republicans’ cuts to Medicaid will harm New Jersey families and the places where they receive care. When I visited Zufall Health Center in Bridgewater, NJ earlier this year, I saw first hand how critical health centers are to” (August 27, 2025).

In a subsequent message at 16:24 UTC regarding an incident of gun violence at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, Kim expressed his condolences: “I’m devastated to learn of a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School, a K-8 school, in Minneapolis earlier today. My thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the children we lost today and others impacted by the violence. It is horrific that we live in a society where” (August 27, 2025).

Kim has represented New Jersey’s 3rd District since replacing Tom MacArthur in Congress in 2019. Born in Boston in 1982 and currently residing in Moorestown, he holds degrees from Deep Springs College and the University of Chicago.
