Senator Andy Kim, who has represented New Jersey’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, recently addressed several issues of local and national importance through his social media posts. Kim, who was born in Boston in 1982 and currently resides in Moorestown, commented on severe weather impacts in New Jersey, a Supreme Court decision affecting education policy, and proposed federal cuts to public broadcasting.
On July 15, 2025, Senator Kim expressed condolences following damaging storms in New Jersey. He stated: “I’m extremely sad to hear of the damage yesterday’s storms caused in my home state. My thoughts are with the families of two women from Plainfield, NJ who lost their lives as a result of the devastating flooding. I’m thankful to first responders who have been assisting”.
Later that day, Kim commented on a recent Supreme Court decision impacting public education. On July 15, 2025, he wrote: “Yesterday’s SCOTUS ruling was a devastating blow to our kids’ future and to the future of public education. Trump’s plans to gut the @usedgov will severely impact our ability to send our kids to college, ensure everyone in this country gets an equal and quality education, and”.
In another post on July 15, 2025, Kim addressed proposed federal budget cuts affecting public broadcasting programs. He said: “Public broadcasting has enriched so many of our lives from providing us critical news and information to free, accessible entertainment for all ages. The Senate must stand up to stop Trump’s $1 billion cuts to these critical programs.”
