Senator Andy Kim, who has represented New Jersey’s 3rd District in the U.S. Congress since 2019, recently used his social media platform to discuss issues affecting jobs and information access in New Jersey. His series of posts on July 20 and July 21 addressed solar energy opportunities and concerns about public broadcasting funding.
On July 20, Kim highlighted the state’s progress in renewable energy, stating: “Yesterday, I toured solar panel installations in Pittstown, NJ, and met with some of the key people helping to make NJ a leader in the solar industry. Being a leader is important because it means better jobs for people in our state, and it helps us compete with countries like https://t.co/A2QRzh73V0”.
Continuing his focus on economic development through clean energy, Kim wrote on July 21: “Our opportunities with solar when it comes to jobs in our state and global competitiveness around the world are plentiful if we can reverse the damage of funding cuts that Republicans like Rep. Tom Kean Jr. have implemented. Here’s what this opportunity looks like on a solar https://t.co/LexlSMIkP1”.
Later that day, Kim addressed proposed reductions to public broadcasting budgets: “Cuts to public broadcasting will hit rural communities the hardest, stripping them of their ability to provide news, information, and emergency alerts to places that have no other local news stations. This is what Republicans took away from the people they serve as they voted to https://t.co/dcg75SYXj0”.
Andy Kim has served as a congressional representative since defeating Tom MacArthur in 2019. Born in Boston in 1982 and currently residing in Moorestown, Kim holds degrees from Deep Springs College (2002) and the University of Chicago (2004). His remarks reflect ongoing debates over clean energy investment and access to reliable information sources—issues significant for both urban and rural constituents across New Jersey.
