Senator Andy Kim, who represents New Jersey’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed concerns about local business challenges and detainee treatment at Delaney Hall in a series of posts on May 28, 2026.
In his first post of the day, Kim highlighted his engagement with local businesses during Small Business Month: “It was great to celebrate Small Business Month with Little Dog Brewing in Neptune City, NJ, and it was equally important to hear how rising utility costs have impacted their operations. What an amazing woman-run establishment in Monmouth County.” (May 28, 2026).
Later that afternoon, Kim drew attention to serious allegations regarding the treatment of detainees: “My office has received multiple calls today alleging use of pepper spray and physical force against detainees inside Delaney Hall. If true, these actions must stop immediately and demand accountability. ICE and GEO Group have a responsibility to keep detainees safe; they’ve” (May 28, 2026).
He followed up with a direct statement on conditions observed at the facility: “I want you to hear straight from me about what happened at Delaney Hall on Monday and what I saw inside the facility. ICE out of control. GEO Group profiting off of human misery. People living in inhumane conditions. Let me walk you through it.” (May 28, 2026).
Kim has served as a U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 3rd District since defeating Tom MacArthur in 2019. He was born in Boston in 1982 and currently resides in Moorestown. Kim graduated from Deep Springs College in 2002 and received his BA from the University of Chicago in 2004.
