Senator Andy Kim, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 3rd district since 2019, addressed several policy and community issues in a series of tweets on July 17, 2025.
In his first post at 15:11 UTC, Kim criticized Senate Republicans for their recent budget decisions, stating, “Last night, Senate Republicans abdicated their responsibility to the American people and put their loyalty to President Trump first. In voting to cut over $9 billion in foreign assistance and public broadcasting, Republicans went back on their word and clawed back funds they had”.
Later that day at 17:51 UTC, Kim highlighted challenges faced by families regarding childcare affordability. He wrote, “Parents and working families are struggling under an affordability crisis being made worse by the Trump administration — many without any childcare options they can afford or reasonably get their kids to every day. That’s why I’m proud to join the effort to tackle the childcare”.
At 21:43 UTC on July 17, Kim reflected on a meeting with students from Korean American Civic Empowerment (KACE), sharing his focus on civic engagement within the Korean American community: “Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting with the Korean American Civic Empowerment’s (KACE) high school intern class to discuss how we can empower the Korean American community through civic education, community engagement, and expanded opportunities across all sectors of”.
Kim was born in Boston in 1982 and currently resides in Moorestown. He is an alumnus of Deep Springs College (2002) and earned his BA from the University of Chicago in 2004. Before his current tenure representing New Jersey’s 3rd district—having replaced Tom MacArthur in 2019—he built experience relevant to legislative work.
