Senator Andy Kim, who represents New Jersey’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently addressed key issues concerning international relations and domestic preparedness. Kim, born in Boston and currently residing in Moorestown, has been serving since 2019 after succeeding Tom MacArthur.
On July 10, Senator Kim shared insights from a meeting with President Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu regarding bilateral cooperation between Kosovo and the United States. In his tweet, he stated: “This week, I met with President Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu about how Kosovo and the U.S. can continue to enhance our strategic partnership when it comes to security in the Western Balkans, countering Russian influence in the region, and aligning the economic growth of both of our.”
Later that day, Senator Kim expressed concerns over domestic disaster readiness amidst hurricane season. He remarked on Twitter: “We’re over a month into hurricane season and we still don’t have a hurricane preparedness plan. Yesterday, I sent a letter to DHS Secretary Noem asking for an update.” He criticized Secretary Noem for increasing bureaucratic obstacles that could delay necessary aid during disasters.
Continuing his focus on emergency management, on July 11 Kim reiterated his criticism towards FEMA and Secretary Noem’s handling of hurricane preparedness. He tweeted: “40 days into hurricane season and still no hurricane preparedness plan from Sec. Noem and FEMA.” Highlighting potential risks to communities due to administrative delays.
