Senator Andy Kim, who represents New Jersey’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has posted a series of tweets addressing upcoming community events and his concerns about recent federal policy decisions.
On July 16, 2025, Kim announced an event for constituents: “I’m hosting a town hall at the Edison Intermediate School in Westfield, NJ on Saturday, July 19th to talk about the impact of the Big Disastrous Bill on our communities. I’ve invited @CongressmanKean to join me in answering questions from our shared constituents.” The post indicates a focus on local engagement and transparency regarding legislative developments.
Later that day, Kim commented on foreign policy matters and ongoing budget debates in Congress. At 23:49 UTC he wrote: “Retreating from the world is no way to lead. In our rapidly changing world, we need to have a seat at the table so we can shape a better future for our kids. I’m in the Senate right now, urging Republicans to vote against over $8 billion in harmful cuts to foreign assistance.”
Shortly after midnight on July 17, Kim criticized actions by the Trump Administration related to food aid and international development programs: “The Trump Administration is going to incinerate enough food to feed 1.5 million children a week. Let it sink in that they’re choosing to let 1.5 million children go hungry EVERY week. The continued dismantling of USAID and foreign assistance is a disgrace.”
Kim has served as U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 3rd District since defeating Tom MacArthur in 2019 and currently resides in Moorestown after being born in Boston in 1982. He graduated from Deep Springs College in 2002 and earned his BA from the University of Chicago two years later.
