Senator Andy Kim, representing New Jersey’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, recently took to social media to address several pressing issues. His statements on May 16, 2025, reflect his ongoing commitment to advocating for the interests of his constituents and ensuring accountability from government bodies.
On May 16, Senator Kim raised concerns about the Firefighter Cancer Registry’s shutdown by Secretary Kennedy. He stated, “I asked Sec. Kennedy why he shut down the Firefighter Cancer Registry. He had no idea.” Following this inquiry, Kim noted that the registry was restored online within hours. He criticized the administration for making cuts without considering their impact on working Americans and vowed to continue highlighting such issues.
Later that day, Kim addressed transportation challenges faced by New Jersey residents due to disruptions in NJ Transit services. He tweeted, “New Jersey families can’t afford to have NJ Transit trains down.” The senator emphasized the difficulties residents face in commuting and fulfilling family responsibilities amidst these service interruptions. He communicated his concerns directly to NJ Transit and relevant labor organizations.
In a subsequent tweet on May 16, Kim provided assistance for commuters affected by the transit shutdowns by sharing resources through a link: “For any commuters struggling in the face of this shutdown here are some resources:”
As a background note, Andy Kim has been serving as a congressman since replacing Tom MacArthur in 2019. Born in Boston in 1982 and currently residing in Moorestown, he holds degrees from both Deep Springs College and the University of Chicago.
