Senator Andy Kim, currently representing New Jersey’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used his social media platform to address a series of concerns about federal policies and their effects on American families and nonprofits.
On November 5, 2025, Senator Kim announced an upcoming event for nonprofit organizations: “In the wake of the Trump Administration’s federal funding freezes, targeted budget cuts, and broader attacks aimed at the nonprofit sector, our office is hosting a webinar about non-federal funding streams for nonprofits on Friday, November 14th from 12-1pm. Learn how to https://t.co/A3KFQhzUQe”. The post highlights ongoing challenges faced by nonprofits in securing federal support.
Later that same day, Kim commented on the state of household finances during what he describes as a healthcare crisis: “Rent or groceries. Medicine or gas. Education or healthcare. Right now, families face an impossible choice because of the healthcare crisis that Trump and Congressional Republicans have created. It’s way past time for them to come back to work and end this shutdown.” The senator’s remarks reference an ongoing government shutdown and its impact on everyday Americans.
On November 6, 2025, Kim addressed economic pressures linked to tariffs enacted during Donald Trump’s presidency: “Trump’s tariffs have been nothing short of a disaster for American families. Higher grocery, gas, rent, healthcare, and utility prices — the average household can’t afford this. It’s time we put a stop to these tariffs and focus on lowering costs across the board.”
Senator Kim has served in Congress since 2019 after defeating Tom MacArthur. Born in Boston in 1982 and currently residing in Moorestown, Kim holds degrees from Deep Springs College (2002) and the University of Chicago (2004). His public statements reflect ongoing debates over federal funding priorities, government shutdowns affecting essential services such as healthcare and education, as well as economic policy decisions including tariffs.
