Senator Andy Kim, who represents New Jersey’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on April 3 and 4, 2026, addressing disaster preparedness funding, concern for service members’ safety, and criticism of former President Donald Trump’s policies.
On April 3, Kim emphasized the importance of proactive disaster management by writing: “We must be prepared for disasters BEFORE they happen. That’s why I fought to reinstate funding for the BRIC program. Let’s continue to make sure states can take proactive steps to protect our communities from fires, floods, hurricanes, and other natural disasters.”
Later that day, he expressed support for military personnel involved in an ongoing rescue operation: “Like so many of you, I’m holding my breath and hoping for the quick recovery of the second crew member and for the security of the rescue effort. One thing we can all agree on is the safety of our service members.”
In a tweet posted on April 4, Kim commented on economic and security issues related to former President Trump’s tenure: “It’s not going to make you safer, but it will make you poorer. Another example of Trump’s ‘Golden Age.'”
Kim has served as a U.S. Congressman since 2019 after replacing Tom MacArthur as representative for New Jersey’s 3rd district. He was born in Boston in 1982 and resides in Moorestown. Kim holds degrees from Deep Springs College (2002) and the University of Chicago (2004).
