Senator Andy Kim, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 3rd district, has been vocal on various issues through his social media presence. On June 4, 2025, he addressed concerns regarding corporate influence in politics and met with a university president to discuss educational challenges. The following day, he criticized a travel ban policy.
On June 4, Senator Kim expressed his views on political funding via Twitter: “A clear example of a broken system. When the biggest corporations benefit from funding one candidate, it doesn’t feel like our government is run for the people, by the people. We have a lot of work to do to seek real change.” This statement highlights his stance on reducing corporate influence in governmental affairs.
Later that day, Senator Kim shared details of his meeting with Paul Alivisatos, President of the University of Chicago: “Today, I had the pleasure of meeting with Paul Alivisatos, President of @UChicago, on issues currently facing higher education including the importance of protecting free speech, preserving funding for vital research, and supporting international students.” As an alumnus of the University of Chicago himself—having graduated in 2004—Kim emphasized key topics affecting higher education today.
On June 5th, Kim commented on a controversial policy implemented by former President Trump: “Trump’s travel ban is rooted in bigotry, not security. It is a sad attempt by the Administration to distract Americans from the rising prices they’ve caused…” He criticized this measure as an ineffective distraction from economic issues and legislative efforts impacting healthcare and food assistance.
