Work on repaving a section of Ong’s Hat Road in Southampton and Pemberton Township is set to commence next week. The pavement milling and overlay, initially scheduled for last month, will now start on Monday, July 7. This work covers the area between Burrs Mill Road in Southampton and Route 644 in Pemberton Township.
The resurfacing project is expected to last approximately two weeks. During this period, eastbound traffic on Ong’s Hat Road will remain open, while westbound traffic will be redirected via Magnolia Road, Pemberton-Vincentown Road, and Ridge Road. Detour signs will be posted; however, motorists should anticipate delays and consider alternative routes.
Arawak Paving Company Inc., based in Hammonton, is handling the project as part of Burlington County’s annual road resurfacing initiative. This contract involves resurfacing a total of 33.4 miles across 16 municipalities within the county.
Burlington County Commissioner Tom Pullion commented on the importance of maintaining infrastructure: “Burlington County is the largest county in New Jersey and has over 500 miles of County roads, 411 County bridges and 700 plus culverts. Maintaining this infrastructure is one of the important services our government performs,” said Pullion, who serves as liaison to the Department of Public Works. “Our repaving program ensures Burlington County has safe, quality roads, and we are pleased to see that work is continuing.”
