Work is set to commence next week on the resurfacing of a section of Pemberton-Vincentown Road, impacting areas within Pemberton Borough, Pemberton Township, and Southampton. The project involves pavement milling and overlay work starting Tuesday, June 3. This will cover a 1.9-mile stretch of the highway known as County Route 616, from Thomas Street in Pemberton Borough to Route 643 in Southampton. The completion of this project is anticipated to take approximately two weeks.
Traffic will be maintained throughout the duration of the work; however, motorists should expect delays and are advised to consider alternative routes where possible.
The resurfacing is being conducted by Arawak Paving Company Inc., based in Hammonton. It forms part of Burlington County’s annual road resurfacing program. In total, Arawak’s contract includes repaving 33.4 miles of roadway across 16 municipalities within Burlington County.
“Burlington County is the largest county in New Jersey and has over 500 miles of County roads, 411 County bridges and 700 plus culverts. Maintaining this infrastructure is one of the important services our government performs,” stated Burlington County Commissioner Tom Pullion, who serves as liaison to the Department of Public Works. “Our repaving program ensures Burlington County has safe, quality roads and we are pleased to see that work is continuing.”
