The Burlington County Library System has introduced a free online tutoring service for its cardholders, aiming to support students as the new school year begins. The service is provided through a partnership with HelpNow by BrainFuse and offers 24/7 access to tutoring, test preparation, and homework help across all elementary, middle, and high school subjects. Live tutors are available every day from 2 PM to 11 PM.

BCLS cardholders can access the HelpNow service by visiting the library’s Homework Help page and entering their library card barcode number. The platform includes features such as live homework help in various subjects, skills-building sessions, personalized eLearning tools like file sharing and session replay, a 24-hour writing lab for essay feedback, an option to submit homework questions for expert guidance, an Adult Learning Center with resources on GED preparation and resume writing, and foreign language support including Spanish.

“The Burlington County Library was New Jersey’s first county library when it was created more than a century ago, and the library system continues to expand and evolve to meet the changing needs of our residents,” said Burlington County Commissioner Director Dr. Felica Hopson. “Offering a free online tutoring service is a great addition to the numerous digital programs the library has for students, job seekers and lifelong learners. This free service is available to all BCLS cardholders.”

In addition to HelpNow, BCLS provides other digital resources such as Kanopy for streaming films and instructional videos; Libby for accessing digital books; Explora for reference materials; and Udemy for adult learning in business, technology, personal development, languages and more. Students without internet or devices at home can borrow Chromebooks, tablets or mobile WiFi hotspots through the library’s technology lending program.

“Burlington County’s libraries are much more than books. We offer cardholders a wide range of digital programs and services, including ebooks and audio books; acclaimed movies, documentaries and instructional videos; online newspapers and periodicals, journals and databases, directories and more,” said BCLS Director Ranjna Das. “We’re excited to offer the HelpNow tutorial service to help students begin the new school year with help if needed.”

Burlington County covers 827 square miles as New Jersey’s largest county by area according to its official website. The county operates under a Board of County Commissioners consisting of five at-large members.

Commissioner Deputy Director Allison Eckel highlighted the importance of educational opportunities: “Education is the great equalizer, and the Burlington County Library System offers a full range of programs and services that can help residents of all ages find success at school, college or in careers,” she said. “The new tutoring service is the perfect back-to-school resource. We want to encourage all Burlington County students and their families to sign up for a BCLS library card so they can take advantage of the tutoring and all the other great services the library system offers.”

The purpose of BCLS is described as enriching lives by providing opportunities for learning, growth and personal development (source). The county includes three cities among its 40 political subdivisions (source), reflecting its diverse communities served by these expanded educational offerings.
