The Burlington County Farmers Market will celebrate its 20th season on May 9 during its annual Opening Day and Spring Garden Market, according to a May 6 announcement. The event will take place from 8:30 AM to 1 PM at the Burlington County Agricultural Center in Moorestown, featuring more than 75 vendors offering local produce, plants, prepared foods, crafts and specialty items.

The market has become a weekly tradition for residents and businesses in the area. Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson said, “It was 20 years ago that the County Farmers Market made its debut with 13 farms and five food vendors and artists. In the ensuing two decades the market has grown to become a weekly staple for dozens of farms and small businesses, along with thousands of shoppers. In fact, it’s now recognized as one of the best markets of its kind, not just in New Jersey or the region, but the entire nation. We’re thrilled by the market’s success, and we’re looking forward to celebrating its history and impact this Saturday.”

A ceremony recognizing original farms and vendors will be held at 9:30 AM. Anniversary cake will be served while supplies last. The day also includes gardening presentations, cooking demonstrations, craft activities for Mother’s Day and live music.

Returning vendors include Little Hooves Romneys, Cranberry Hall Farm and James Durr Farm among others. Twelve new vendors are joining this year such as River Valley Community Grains specializing in grains and breads; Rupert’s Pizza; Kismet Bagels; Spice it Up Jamaican Food; Ricewich; Pies and Quiches by Zena; Great & Small Bakery; Venn Breads; Magnify Brewing; Neck of the Woods Brewing; among others.

Commissioner Deputy Director Allison Eckel said, “The Farmers Market was created to support Burlington County farmers who were looking for an additional way to sell their products… Its success is a credit to visionary leaders, County staff and Parks employees, and the vendors whose products make it such a beloved shopping destination.”

The Agricultural Center where the market is held was established after Burlington County acquired Winner Dairy Farm in Moorestown-Mount Laurel about three years before launching the market in 2007. The property includes community gardens, demonstration fields and a commercial kitchen used for classes offered by Burlington County Parks System.

In recent years recognition has included being voted No.1 farmers market in New Jersey by American Farmland Trust (2024) as well as ranking fourth nationally by USA Today’s Readers Choice Awards (2025), returning again this year to USA Today’s Top Five list.

Commissioner Randy Brolo said “Agriculture is an enormous part of Burlington County’s history and it is still a major part of the county’s present day economy… Whether you’re looking to shop, eat or just relax, the Farmers Market is a fantastic place to visit every Saturday.”

Burlington County encompasses over 827 square miles as New Jersey’s largest county by area with forty political subdivisions including three cities according to the official website.
