The Burlington County Farmers Market was ranked among the top five farmers markets in the nation for a second consecutive year, according to an April 23 announcement. The market finished fifth in the USA Today 10BEST Readers Awards poll, competing against 19 other markets from across the country.

This recognition highlights the growing popularity and regional impact of the Burlington County Farmers Market. The annual poll brings national attention to local businesses and agricultural producers who rely on such events for revenue and exposure.

“The Burlington County Farmers Market has grown to become one of our county’s most popular destinations and one of our biggest success stories,” said Burlington County Commissioner Director Dr. Felicia Hopson. “Our farmers market routinely attracts thousands of shoppers from across the county and region, and we are thrilled it has once again been crowned one of the very best of its kind in America.”

Commissioner Deputy Director Allison Eckel also commented on what this means for local business: “Top 5 in the nation is an honor that few destinations can claim and we are grateful for everyone who took the time to vote for our market and help it earn this recognition. It is more than just bragging rights. The attention our market receives also shines a spotlight on the farms, agri-businesses, artists and vendors who use the weekly market as an important source of revenue. It does a lot to help our local businesses grow and thrive, so we appreciate all the support from voters.”

The USA Today 10Best Readers Awards selects twenty finalists each year through an expert panel before opening up voting online from mid-March through April 13. Last year, Burlington County finished fourth nationally; this marks its second time as a finalist in this contest.

In addition to national accolades, last year saw Burlington County Farmers Market named New Jersey’s number one farmers market by American Farmland Trust’s annual poll, while both it and its home—the Burlington County Agricultural Center—were honored with a Voice of Business Award from the Regional Chamber of Commerce for economic development.

Now celebrating its twentieth season at 500 Centerton Road in Moorestown, weekly Saturday markets run from spring through late November with preseason days starting each March. This season’s final preseason event will be held Saturday, April 25th; regular hours resume May 9th with themed Opening Day festivities continuing every Saturday until November 14th.

Commissioner Randy Brolo encouraged residents: “The Burlington County Farmers Market deserves the national acclaim and continues to wow shoppers with its blend of scenery, atmosphere and farmers and artisans offering locally grown fruit, vegetables, prepared foods and crafts. Whether you’re a market regular or newcomer, make sure to visit this Saturday and see why it was voted one of America’s best.”

Burlington County covers over eight hundred square miles as New Jersey’s largest county by area according to its official website. The county features Historic Smithville Park—a three-hundred-twelve-acre site comprising forests, meadows, streams, and wetlands—and includes forty political subdivisions made up of cities, boroughs, and townships according to county records.

Other community initiatives include recognizing women’s contributions through Outstanding Women awards programs as noted by officials, while library services aim at enriching lives via learning opportunities according to library administrators. Governance is provided by a Board of Commissioners composed of five at-large members alongside Eve Cullinan serving as administrator as detailed by county administration.
